We work with a variety of suppliers that help us source the finest raw material, otherwise known as “blanks.” We further refine each blank through our sophisticated milling equipment. By feeding each board by hand, we ensure the finished product meets our high standards. Our equipment allows us to offer a wide variety of options in terms of the overall look and feel desired on each project.
Would we install this on our own home?
Is this product sustainable from an environmental perspective?
Is the wood and its natural beauty on display?
The products below are manufactured in house and account for approximately 50% of our sales. By shopping at 1st Choice Millworks, you support jobs in the Coeur d’ Alene area and positively impact the local economy.
Below, you’ll find our in-house profiles arranged by category—baseboards, casing, crown moulding, chair rails, panel moulding, sills and aprons, and custom millwork. For the most part, these categories are organized by size, from smallest to largest.
We understand that every project is unique, so many of our profiles can be adjusted slightly to better suit your needs—whether it’s a change in thickness, width, or other minor modifications. If you see something you like but need adjustments, let us know! There’s a good chance we can accommodate your request.
Since we grind our knives and profiles in-house, if you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for, we can create a custom knife to your precise specifications. Knife grinding generally costs approximately $100 per inch (e.g., a 5″ wide profile would cost $500).
Some profiles, such as crown moulding, are more complex to set up. In many cases, we charge a one-time setup fee followed by a per-linear-foot production cost. Setup fees range from:
$150 Basic Profile
$500 More advanced setup
$1250 For most complex setup
All S4S, E4E, E2E and E2S are available in any custom sizes upon request
Nominal sizing refers to the common names for lumber dimensions (e.g., 1 x 6 or 2 x 4), but the actual finished size is smaller due to the milling process. At 1st Choice Millworks, we start with rough material and refine it to the exact dimensions our customers need, so you’re not limited to standard sizes. We can customize boards to your specifications, whether you prefer sharp edges or a variety of radius profiles for a softer look. Let us know your requirements, and we’ll make it happen!
