Wood Fiber Options

Stock Patterns with In-house Finish

Western Red Cedar

Good Option

Western Red Cedar is a highly versatile and durable softwood known for its rich color, fine texture, and aromatic qualities. It is native to the Pacific Northwest of North America and is prized for its natural beauty and exceptional performance characteristics. Its color ranges from light tan to deep reddish brown with subtle variations.

Naturally resistant to decay, rot, and insect damage due to its high tannin content. Ideal for outdoor use for siding and decking.

Minimal shrinking, swelling, or warping

Available in a Select Tight Knot (#2 and better) grade or Clear grades (A and better) in both mixed grain or vertical grain.

Douglas Fir

Value Option

Doug Fir is a strong and versatile softwood that is well-suited for exterior siding applications. Known for its attractive appearance and excellent structural properties, it has been a popular choice for generations in both residential and commercial construction. Its color ranges from light tan to reddish-brown with subtle grain patterns that add warmth and character.

Its natural beauty and workability lend itself well to a variety of finishes

Expect more movement than cedar for example, especially on wider boards like 1x8 or 1x10

Available in a Select Tight Knot (#2 and better) grade or Clear grades (A and Better) in both mixed grain or vertical grain.

Eucalyptus (Red Grandis)

Value Option

Red Grandis is a durable and sustainable hardwood that is becoming increasingly popular for exterior siding due to its excellent performance, workability, and appealing aesthetics. Grown primarily on FSC-certified plantations, it is a renewable and eco-friendly option. It tends to have a relatively mild grain structure, and the color is pale white to a reddish brown color.

Expect this material to move more than cedar, for example, especially on wider boards like 1x8 and 1x10.

Consistent color with minimal character makes it an excellent choice for a budget-friendly, knot free product.

Environmentally friendly plantation grown in Uruguay, available in FSC certification should the project warrant a chain of custody.

Accoya | Radiata Pine

Best Option

Accoya sets the benchmark for premium exterior siding material. Their proprietary acetylation process delivers unparalleled stability and longevity, making it an ideal choice for low-maintenance siding that can gracefully age to a natural silver-gray hue (if left unfinished). For those seeking a customized aesthetic, Accoya readily accepts a wide range of finishes, offering versatility in design. In its natural state, the wood displays tones ranging from pale white to soft yellow, providing a neutral and adaptable foundation for any project. The product is of premium grade, rendering it knot-free with a broad, cathedral like grain pattern.

Virtually maintenance free if uncoated and left to patina naturally.

Available in a pre-grey option for a consistent look out of the gate.

Extremely stable in even the most harsh conditions.

Thermally Modified Hemlock

Good Option

Thermally Modified Hemlock is a refined and sustainable wood product designed for exceptional performance in exterior siding applications. Through a heat treatment, chemical-free process, the natural properties of hemlock are enhanced, resulting in increased durability, stability, and resistance to decay. The fiber has better protection from the elements and increased stability. Its grade is D and Better, meaning it’s mostly clear with some mineral streaks permitted. The grain orientation is vertical; its color is a nice smokey brown that will patina to silver if left unfinished.

Environmentally friendly treatment using heat and vacuum with no added chemicals.

Naturally resistant to rot and decay and insects.

Available in customizable profiles in both 1x6 or 1x8 sizes.
